The decision to homeschool made a momentous change in our family. After hours of prayer and research, we put our trust in God and started our journey into a homeschool lifestyle. We knew it wasn't going to be easy, but the fact remains, when you give your children a Biblical foundation, love, time, understanding, and guidance, the rest will fall into place. Our struggles challenge us to lean on God alone, for he is our strength. God helped us shift from a worldly education to building a Biblical foundation. Emphasizing God's will over educational goals really pointed our family in the right direction. Our children are much more eager to learn and enjoy each others company more and more. We would be happy to recommend any literature, audio, video, etc. that might offer help and wisdom for a more prosperous future for your family. "Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. (Prov. 24:3-4 KJV)
Note:
I'm not against anyone who
teaches as a career. Trying to help children survive and compete in this world we
live in is an admirable task. There is information written as fact that was proven
false and it's still in the textbooks today. Unfortunately, the system has been corrupted
and these publications have made their way into the classroom. This destroys a childs
faith in the Bible and that is painful for me especially since I spent six years
working with children that couldn't function in a classroom or in a family because
a worldly view superseded a Biblical view. There is alot of information taught in
public schools that is inaccurate, and there is little or no time spent looking at
all sides of what I feel is foundational and accurate. Secondly, I think children
should spend as much of there young lives with the ones who should train them up,
their parents. My wife and I have spent endless hours praying, learning, and trying
to understand what is the best we can do for our children to prepare them for adulthood.
It seems to me that having a strong Biblical foundation should be first and most
important. A home should be a place of togetherness, sharing, love, and comradery.
Siblings should be best friends before anything else, learning to give and having
compassion is what develops friendships. Please don't misunderstand, it's a major
commitment, alot of work, and sometimes frustrating, but my life hasn't been this
full of joy and contentment that I can ever remember. I hope this website can somehow
share what I have learned with those that are interested or might need more information
about bringing children home to school. There is much to do, but you have to start
somewhere. Start now.
